    The Colorado high country here is a four seasons playground. Featuring a great location, access to extraordinary recreational amenities in the vicinity.  Historic sites and big sightseeing nearby, surrounded by snow-capped rockies and fourteeners. You have grand mountain vistas, miles of rivers and trails, amazing star viewing, rolling big wide open views & valleys, very much unlike the big city you left behind to get here. Buffalo, antelope, and elk herds nearby. Wildlife sightings are not uncommon - elk, bighorn sheep, antelope, buffalo. Set amidst 50 year pines and aspens. Long sunny summer days, cool summer nights (300+ days of sunshine on average).  
    Located in the heart of the Colorado High Country with much of the best of  Colorado surrounding the lodge.  The climate is amazing year round.  Little humidity, lots of sunshine.  It is a great launch point for surrounding activities. Surrounded by high peaks aspens and pines. 
    Located on a quiet county maintained road (year-round), this lodge offers country living at its best.  Property is just minutes from some of the best hunting, fishing, & outdoor recreation in Colorado.  Revel in the immediate beauty you find here while enjoying activities that rally and rejuvenate your spirit throughout your stay.
    About (15) very scenic miles to Buena Vista, 20 very scenic miles to Fairplay, 45 scenic miles to Breckenridge & Monarch ski areas.  Just the right distance from town to skip the commotion yet close enough to enjoy all the services when needed. New local grocery markets. County maintained roads to front of property.  Full-time Ranch HOA caretaker onsite. 
 

 

Activities Attractions 
    The lodge is in the center of almost endless recreational and exploring opportunities.  Rafting, hiking, fishing, boating, touring, sightseeing, skiing, boarding or staying comfortable inside & relaxing. There are lots of "get out there" activities here if you desire them, or just relax next to the aspens and pines.  Its adventure fun to head in to historic Buena Vista, or Fairplay
Colorado, visit the many galleries, shops, and restaurants the area affords. The Arkansas River is nearby for those looking for world-class fishing, rafting,  kayaking.  Breckenridge & Monarch ski areas are nearby for winter and summer alpine activities.  Remember to take proper time to acclimate, our elevation is ~9000 feet.
    The lodge is central to dozens of Colorado attractions that are nearby that include: Arkansas River rafting, Gold medal fishing (nearby Eleven Mile, Spinney & Antero Lakes are great - together they bring more than 300,000 visitors annually - and have a famous 'dream stream' designated Gold Medal waters that connect them), skiing & snowboarding at Breckenridge and Monarch ski areas, snowmobiling, offroading.    Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument .  Mt. Princeton or Cottonwood Hot Springs, Cripple Creek mining and gaming district and the amazing Royal Gorge.  Go shopping at Dillon/Silverthorne Factory Stores.
    Hiking, biking, fishing, ATVing & offroading (follow local laws) horsebackriding and boating are in the vicinity.  Skiing, Snowboarding, snowmobiling and snowshoeing are in the vicinity. Trails for hiking and snowshoeing go from gentle to demanding - choose as desired.  An alpine escape with lots of recreation nearby. Nestled literally at the center of Colorado in the high country, just short distances to legendary pastimes. Wildlife viewing – antelope, deer, and even an occasional buffalo can be seen just one acre away across the BLM fence at the front of the property.  Bear and mountain lion are rare but occasional sightings are noted.

(4) pairs of new (2008) snowshoes provided, (3) mountain bikes provided, several fishing poles/reels provided. All these activities in immediate & nearby area.  Enjoy reading from our mini-library next to one of the woodburning  fireplaces (there are four here including pellet stoves). 
    What to bring: Sunglasses, sunscreen, cameras, water bottles, gloves, summer - rafting wear/gear, winter - snow & ski clothing, boots, and warm sox.  See your local winter and summer outfitters to round out your gear. 
 

Lodge Attractions 
     Relax and entertain here in this new (2007) one of a kind mountain home.  Featuring majestic architecture (cathedral/vaulted ceilings, large open lofts, sunny great room) attractive interiors, the lodge provides comfortable and luxurious mountain elegance with a rustic flair.  You will find strong family and lodge presence yet equally a romantic aura and feel. This is an amazing mountain home well suited for family reunions & apres’ ski parties or for quiet romantic getaways.  An ideal space for gathering and attractive entertaining yet with lots of room to spread out.  You will find great mountain  lodging for extended families and small groups, and a resplendent getaway for couples. 3300 sq. ft. offer plenty of room to relax and gather or spread out.  Wi-Fi broadband internet throughout, Dish Network w/ (4) separate receivers.
     Two floor to ceiling stone woodburning fireplaces, expansive loft, raised sitting room with french doors, wet bar, attractive downstairs kitchen with indoor island/grill, breakfast/gathering bar and dining area, & additional galley kitchen upstairs in guest suite/recreation room, all in an open floor plan. Two “push-button” pellet heat stoves automatically feed wood pellets and give a pretty and toasty real fireplace flame, and forced air heating throughout. Four furnished bedrooms. Each room uniquely furnished with newer or comfortable furnishings. Three designer bathrooms with separate tubs and showers. Two jetted whirlpool tubs and three spa showers - each with dual opposing shower heads with room for two friendly people. Inviting and warm lighting thruout.. Slate, granite, and italian tile throughout.  Comforts of home provided and more including: Dish Network family & local channels, DVD & CD players, coffee makers, blenders, refrigerators, foosball table in loft.  Outdoor propane and charcoal grills. Laundry facilities and mudroom.  All linens, some toiletries, kitchenware for both kitchens provided. Firewood often provided. (3) mountain bikes and (2)Playstation 2 (with games) provided for your leisure.
     The home is  in the "frontier territorial style" and provides panoramic views of aspens, pines, rangeland and majestic mountains in a quiet peaceful setting. If you like the outdoors and nicely appointed living quarters, you can enjoy it all here with the rustically sophisticated styling.  Just the right distance from town to skip the commotion yet close enough to enjoy all the services when needed. Spacious living and dining rooms.      Expansive wraparound deck, with outdoor seating and barbeque, partially covered, with panoramic views.   Loft/deck bedroom balcony has four French doors & private open air deck and sunny south panoramas.  Views from inside to outdoors frame majestic mountains, picturesque aspens, pines, hills & rangeland..  Exterior cedar and stone provide rustic appearance.
     This custom mountain home/retreat resides in an area known as "Ranch of the Rockies", a mountain and country community about 30% built on with 2-5 acre parcels of aspens, pines and broad views. This is the lodge at the ranch.  View of untouched mountains, aspens, pines, and rangeland out the front porch extends for miles. Its beautiful here. Broadband 1mb internet service some seasons, (3) mountain bikes and several fishing poles and other recreation items provided for guest use. 
     Sleeps 14 at published rates; (2) kings , (2) queens, (1) full size bed, (1) queen sleeper/sofa (1) full sleeper/sofa.  Additional guests beyond 10 persons are $18 per person per day for adults and $10 per person per day for kids 17 and under (extra guests can use sleeping bags they bring w/ rapid inflate queen floor mattresses provided - we do have some linens also for this purpose). Great for groups or couples yet priced for families.  This is absolutely a NO-SMOKING residence and a pet residence with approval only. Thanks for taking care of the place while here.
